Re: ThePirateBay Torrent Provider (Release)

I am absolutely new to this... but I managed to get Sick Beard installed on my Synology DS211+ NAS. It runs quite well, but I only download occasionally and I don't have a USENET account. So, this torrent download provider would be a nice addition. But, would you consider writing a tutorial on how to add this feature to my NAS's installation? Thanks in advance!

I am not familiar, but so far I managed to install a few things on my NAS, following tutorials and learning a few command lines on the go... I'm not tupid, though... :))

ah! Thanks for that.

You'd think it would be smart enough to see you are using a web browser and forward the request to the right page. ;)

In the code of thepiratebay.py you state certain lands are blocking TPB, followed by a proxy size named "labaia.ws". At least for Germany the blocking statement is outdated, there was a very short block in 2010 gone in days.

Actually its "labaia.ws" which is unreachable, leading all search requests to nowhere.

Thank you for pointing this, but for me and others friends labaia.ws is reachable. Probably was unreachable for some hours.

Hey, for some reason the command 'git clone' always gave me another version then yours (might be my fault since I'm a linux/git newby), but I fixed it by downloading it manually. Anyways, is there anyway this provider can be added to the main build? Would be nice to be able to get future updates etc.

I use ubuntu server 11.04 and.

P.S. Thank alot for your work, wouldn't be able to use SB without it!

@mr_orange

Great job on this fork. Torrent snatching from TPB worked beautifully for me, and found many shows that were not on EZ-RSS: Current (fall 2011) episodes for How I Met Your Mother, The Office, Modern Family, and The Good Wife

Suggestion #1: I'd love to see a version where you add KickassTorrents support to your existing ThePirateBay branch. I tried this with git merge but there were many conflicts.
Suggestion #2: You have a lot of branches on Github. It would be less confusing if you deleted some of the old stuff (i.e. more_torrent_provider, more_torrents_provider, working, etc.)

For folks unfamiliar with git, here are installation instructions for Linux users.

Linux users: To install, paste the entire block of commands below into the terminal on your Sick Beard box:
Code: Select all
# back up existing sick beard folder
mv ~/.sickbeard ~/.sickbeard_old
# kill sick beard
cd /tmp
wget -q "http://127.0.0.1:8081/home/shutdown/"
# download mr_orange's ThePirateBay branch
cd ~
git clone https://github.com/mr-orange/Sick-Beard.git
mv ThePirateBay .sickbeard
# copy old settings over to new installation
cp ~/.sickbeard_old/sickbeard.db .sickbeard
cp ~/.sickbeard_old/config.ini .sickbeard
cp ~/.sickbeard_old/autoProcessTV/autoProcessTV.cfg  .sickbeard/autoProcessTV.
# start Sick Beard
python ~/.sickbeard/SickBeard.py -q > /dev/null 2>&1 &
# Friendly message
echo "Installation finished.  Sick beard is running at http://127.0.0.1:8081"
# All done

Then, go to http://127.0.0.1:8081/config/providers/ and click the check box for "The Pirate Bay".
