Reset password

Postby Duckstar » Wed Feb 23, 2011 3:06 pm

Hi there.

Someone please save my life. I have forgotten my username and password for sickbeard (apparently). I am running Ubuntu 10.10 I think.

I have opened ~/.sickbeard/config.ini and it's empty ... Anyone ?

Thanks !

if there is no pw in the ini .. then there is no pw set.
What you can do is .. stop SB

Open the ini , set a pw & username
Restart SB

I spoke to soon.
I stopped sickbeard using the command :
Code: Select all
/etc/init.d/sickbeard.sh stop

then i did :
Code: Select all
sudo gedit ~/.sickbeard/config.ini

I tried changing the web user name and password and also changing both values to ""
When i do
Code: Select all
/etc/init.d/sickbeard.sh start

and then try to connect to the web interface it would still ask me for a username and password and the ones i entered in the config wont work. :(
Any ideas ?

Thanks ,

Are you 100% sure you stopped it ?
Try to KILL the process instead of using the script

you can set/reset the pw the same way.. just access the config.ini for sickbeard thats in your sickbeard or datadir if you change the default location via an init script and just set it there (with sickbeard not running).

Hi all,
I am facing the same problem with the auto update today on my Synology. I had a passcode to log before and it's not working after the update. I located the file config.ini but I can't update it.
-rw------- 1 sickbear root 3849 Aug 26 16:12 config.ini

I am logged as an admin and I can't change the permissions. the user sickbear do not exist in my panel control.
How can I dsable the password?

Thank you
McMathieu

just basic linux permissions issue... use su or login as root or add admin to root group
