Automatic sickbeard search when episode available

Postby k1282 » Tue Feb 22, 2011 10:11 am

hi guys,
i have a strange situation, which i need to solve somehow:
when i first installed sickbeard bacl in June 2010, i never touched it as it worked perfectly. it actually downloaded tv episodes as soon as they were available on my nzb provider

unfortunately, i needed to reinstall sick beard on my QNAP and used a QPKG which installed the following version: Alpha Master R3
now this one has a slighty different navigation menu but allows me to do the same settings as my older version. But there is one issue which bothers me most:
sick beard does not look for episodes anymore once they are available. instead, it waits until my defined search frequency of 2 days is over. As I like to have my NAS idle at times of inactivity, it set this rather high search frequency.

Was I hallucinating that sick beard snatched episodes as soon as they were available? or is this function still implemented and I can't find it?

hope someone can help me out here.
thx.
K

SB still searches when stuff is available (every ?? minutes)

Under /config/episodedownloads/ , you need to set the Search frequency
If this is not available , set it in the ini

Also .. if possible .. try to stay up-to-date , so see if you can manual install sickbeard
Don't know the versions you talk about , but maybe that is the one that is made by the peole who make a package for your OS/QNAP

hi, thanks for the response.
sb only looks for episodes after my search frequency is reached and not as soon as it is available.
i also set the search frequency to 1440minutes (2 days) in the settings page of sickbeard (no need to edit the ini file).

is there a way to set up sick beard so that he looks for episodes once they are available?

SB looks every so much time, that time you set with the search frequency.
So if you want it to search more often , you need to set that lower then 2 days.

For example set it to 2 hours , then it will look every 2 hours if new episodes are available at the providers

then i would hereby post a script request:
IF show ran on TV THEN look for episode x hours after

or a simple scheduling module would also do the trick. This way, I can tell sick beard which time to look for an episode on day x.

but still, why did my older version download episodes as soon as they were available although i set search frequency to 2 days? strange...

I don't think it did that
Back then there was also an backlog search in place .. you could set this also.

For requests .. please follow the rules : viewtopic.php?f=8&t=320

Your old version was probably still doing the 1-hr limited backlogs which was a bug, now they're done no more often than your daily searches. If you want SB to find things you need to use a reasonable frequency.
