QNAP/Synology UNRAR issue work around

Postby joelang6126 » Thu Mar 20, 2014 8:46 pm

Hello

Notices a few posts about the Unpack function not working due to Unrar 3.80 & 3.60 being detects on QNAP & Synology NAS units. I too suffer from the same problem and cant find a fix for it. IPKG update install v5.0 fine but the script never detects it.

I have a work around which isn't perfect but it works. I simply used the old unrar code from 2010. Go to https://code.google.com/p/py-unrar2/dow ... p&can=1&q= and download the zip. Use Midnight Commander on your NAS and navigate too /SickBeard_TPB/lib/unrar and delete the contents.

Use MC to copy the entire contents of your downloaded & extracted pyUnRAR2-0.99.1.zip to the /SickBeard_TPB/lib/unrar folder. Restart Sickbeard and enable the unpack function. Works like a charm.... HOWEVER every time Sickbeard updates it overwrites this meaning you have to down it again :(

As Mr Ornage points out this part is not his work and is down to the author of py-unrar2

Hope this helps!
